Illinois Fund to Help Small Nonprofits

Small nonprofits should consider if they might qualify for funding.

In 2007, the Charitable Trust Stabilization Fund was created to help small nonprofits in Illinois.  Qualifying small nonprofits, defined as those with annual budgets of $1 million or less, can apply for grants.  The grants go before an 11-member committee that oversees the management of the Fund. 


Applications for the Spring 2021 grant cycle will be taken from January 1st through March 31st, in three categories:  food programs; housing programs; and workforce and economic development.  Those nonprofits that are located in areas of pervasive poverty, unemployment, and economic distress will be given special attention.  The applications are completed online.  More information, and access to the online application, can be found at the following address:
